Øystein Fevang buys "Gamle Horten Gård"

Together with 3 companions, I have bought the fantastic place "Gamle Horten Gård" (Old Horten Farm) in Horten, my town of birth. After weeks of hard fighting with other competitors, the local politicians in Horten voted in favour of my concept. The buildings have for more than 150 years served as accomondation for The Norwegian Navy, and when the Navy withdrew and moved their activities to Bergen, the Horten municipality used their first right of refusal to buy Gamle Horten Gård. Later, the municipality put it out for sale, offering the bid with the best concept idea for the buildings to buy it for a set price. These historical buildings dates back to 1780, and is really the cradle of Horten. Gamle Horten Gård will now be turned into a cultural centre, offering accomondation, café, seminars, concerts, festivals and courses.More info and program will soon be available on this website: www.gamlehortengard.no
The procedure raised a lot of enthusiasm amongst the inhabitans of Horten, and the local newspaper had numerous head liners and pages about the issue.

This documentary series was filmed September-December 2007, and the 6 episodes will be broadcasted on NRK1 from middle of November. How it all went you will have to watch on NRK ... |
Norwegian Choir Assosiation's Honory Prize awarded to Øystein Fevang and Ensemble 96.
The prize is given to conductors, choirs, composers or others who in a particular way have promoted and developed Norwegian choir music at a national or international level. This years award ceremony took place at a crowded Grieghallen in Bergen, during the closing concert for the Grieg International Choir Festival.
The jury says, among other things:
"The Korprisen 2007 is awarded to a choir and a conductor who has in a particularly way documented the very best of Norwegian choir litterature and contributed in making the works familiar both in Norway and abroad.
The CD-recording Immortal Nystedt has been acclaimed internationally, and the nomination for two Grammy awards is an honour few creative artists recieve."
